Exploring the potential contribution of the African Diaspora in Ireland to international volunteering.

Minister of State Joe Costello T.D. meets with the African Diaspora at Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre, O’Connell Street, Dublin 1 on Monday, 18 November 2013.

Speakers were drawn from different volunteering organisations and a volunteer from African background.Amongst other issues raised were the involvements of Africans in strategic planning of projects or programmes that concern them, the huge cost of volunteering abroad on both the volunteers and volunteering organisations and the amount of impact Africans are making in volunteering sector in Ireland. The meeting was the first of its kind and it is hoped that there will be more in the future.
