eDundalk is a Social Enterprise launched on 14 February 2014 with a vision to see Ireland where African Diaspora are represented at leadership positions across all sectors. Our aim is to promote employability, entrepreneurship, social inclusion, development education, integration and tourism. As a Diaspora, it can be difficult to access mainstream employment opportunities irrespective of your ‘imported’ qualifications and experience. According to ESIRI and Equality Authority in Irish Independent (2013). "Black Africans have the highest rate of unemployment and the lowest rate of employment; this group also reports the highest rates of discrimination both in the workplace and when looking for work." eDundalk is passionate about helping to build sustainable economic development for African Diaspora in Ireland.
Our work is centred on:publishing, entrepreneurship, employment, welfare and networking events such as eDundalk international networking dinner and Talk Show. Through our website we provide information on how to: start your own business, access employment, Export to and from Africa, Welfare entitlements and Development education.
We generate income from advertising, email marketing, online shop, event sponsorship and eDundalk international magazine.
In 2014 eDundalk was selected to participate with another 27 projects across Ireland at School for Social Entrepreneurs Ireland first Incubator Programme.
In 2015, eDundalk was recognized at the Africa Day Awards Dublin and a Finalist at the Louth Business Awards. The website has recorded over two million hits in the past two years with average of 3000-10,000 hits per day.
We use eDundalk online shop to connect and support African Diaspora/native Irish entrepreneurs and African women entrepreneurs to target markets for their finished unique products. We hope to build sustainable economic development for African women entrepreneurs from a diaspora perspectives.
