A quick feedback and 'thank you' message from Emmanuel Ntemuse, eDundalk and other community members who supported Emmanuel to achieve his Fundraising goal in support of HSE during Covid-19. As you can see from the image above that has been achieved and delivered. To Emmanuel, this meant a lot. He's grateful and full of excitement and high self esteem. What we have all just helped Emmanuel do actually confirms that it is possible for young people to set a goal and achieve it. It shows that with the right people, attitude and enabling environment, we can all reach our heights. It means that young people can actively participate in the political and socio-economic development and growth of their society. Volunteering is good and should be part of young people's lives. Young people can also use their good work to End Racism!

@eDundalk, we build, we inspire and aspire!

Press release--15/6/2020

Correcting the ugly narrative in Tallaght on 14/6/2020

We gathered rather reliably that a two legged football match was arranged between a group of boys. Apparently, the first leg took place last week Friday 12th June. Then yesterday, the lads played the second leg. Thereafter there was a small misunderstanding which appeared to be rowdy considering the number of people at the match, but certainly wasn't an arranged fight like some mischief makers are suggesting. People are taking a harmless and If anything, a commendable effort by these young people to stay fit and organised and to close ranks out of context. It is a shame, people have vented a load of racist slurs on something they know very little or nothing about. It is unfortunate.

Still on #Blacklivesmatter peaceful protest organised by Black youth in Dundalk on June 2 and which was initiated by Funto Joye as he prefers to  be called. Funto refuses to take any credit but says every black kid in Dundalk worked together to pull that through. Funto portrays a very outstanding quality of a good leader and community oriented person. As an observer, I have deep respect for these Black youth in Dundalk. How possible is it for a people to come up with an idea, plan and execute in less than 24 hours and the whole town was filled up with a great essence of life, love and strength in unity. The massive and diverse crowd cut across different backgrounds.

There has been multiple positive effects of this history breaking news protest in Dundalk. A single Tweet (on Dundalk protest) from @kiitanamoa, a young lad from Dundalk and one of the speakers at the protest has hit over one million Likes on Twitter. Incredible! Media houses have been taken turns in interviewing these these lads Kiitan Amao, Seun Hill and Moyo Badun (two black and white) and Funto Joye. One UK based TV station has also interviewed. Watch out for the broadcast.

It is interesting to know that Kiitan, Sean and Moyo were childhood friends and are still together so, "this shit is too real, you can't make it up"  according to @kiitanamao on Twitter. Follow him on Twitter for more exciting tweets.

There is absolutely pride and sense of belonging when young people stand up and speak for themselves. Their voice is heard clearer and louder.

One thing is so prominent about Dundalk Black Youth. They're closely knitted. You would think they were born by same parents. They are making impact.

@eDundalk we work to bring out the best in young people

At just 16, Sharon has not ceased to amaze everone including her family and peers with her deep thoughts and expression in Art. She started drawing as a kid and won so many prizes for her art expression as a young kid. Since 2018, Sharon has shown so much interest and has advanced in her Art work. She began to also pay interest on social issues like racism and she began to express that interest on some of her work.

Just hearing and seeing how George Floyd's was killed in America on 25 May 2020, Sharon became more aware of the evils of racism. She wants to say more with her Art.

On 2nd June, the Black youth in Dundalk held a peaceful rally in the town square to make their voice heard on racism and #Blacklivesmatter. Sharon did not attend physically but was inspired to see her peers speaking up so she got glued in her world of art speaking with her painting tools.

On this her recent work, Sharon has the names of all those killed in America as a result of racism and she calls it Symbol of Racism.

Sharon wants to study Art in the university and some of her work can be purchased at edundalk.com/shop for those who want to encourage and inspire this young talented woman. We will soon have some of her works on display at eDundalk online shop.

Sharon Olatunbosun (16), a brilliant and talented up coming artist from Dundalk made an outstanding illustration of George Floyd's saga (racism). Following the huge success of #Blacklivesmatter protest in Dundalk organized by the young black people on Tuesday 2nd  June, Sharon went home on reflection and came up with this artist masterpiece.

#Blacklivesmatter

Tuesday 2nd June has gone down  in the history as the first Black Youth protest in Dundalk Ireland. The young people mobilised themselves and made their voice heard loud and clear that Black Lives matter! The turnout was highly massive with visible Garda (police) presence. The speakers were very eloquent and passionate about what they believed in and all reiterated the need for zero tolerance for racism in Dundalk and Ireland in general.

The protest was triggered by the killing of George Floyds (46) in the USA on 25 May by American police officer who knelt on George's neck until he died. The American president, Trump lacked the leadership skill too to condemn the injustice, hence massive protests across the globe including Dublin.

Amongst speakers at the Dundalk protest was eDundalk founder- Amaka Okonkwo who praised the young people for showing such maturity and excellent leadership skills where Trump failed. She said, "your ability to organise such peaceful protest clearly demonstrates you are responsible and accountable. It also shows you promote peace and unity. There is hope" , Amaka said. Amaka encouraged the youth to ensure the protest ended peacefully.

Funto, who initially came up with the idea of the protest, has this to say when he was asked what inspired him and who the organizers were. "Em after seeing the Dublin protest on Monday and how much impact it had on everyone. I decided that we need to make our own voice be heard in Dundalk because this is our town and our community and we need to be together in unity. So around 3/4pm I just decided to have a protest with the mentality that no one can stop me and I wanted it to be the following day because I knew that would be the perfect timing and the weather was also good. So I put it all into the group chat I was in and everyone was excited and up for it. So I got one of my friends (Sean) to make the poster and immediately the poster was made, the whole BLACK community in Dundalk shared it all around social media. Even the white people. It was amazing to see. The impact my group of boys and group of girls like Princess has in Dundalk is just amazing, aunty.  And every single black person in Dundalk organised it and made it happen. It was a group effort".

I found that statement from Funto very powerful and inspiring. It's a winning mindset.

The turnout was highly impressive and diverse with so much energy.

eDundalk founder was specially invited by the young people to this rally to address the young protesters.

George Floyds has suddenly become a house hold name in the world not because he of what he did but because of who he was, a black man who 'desrved' to die on the hands of American corps on a broad day light! Floyds was brutally killed by Derek Chauvin, an American corps by pressing his knee on George's neck who was pleading to him, "I cannot breathe, don't kill me"

The most horrific inhuman wickedness to a fellow human being.

The world awaits justice from Donald Trump.

In the midst of the Corona Virus pandemic, he refused to be gripped by fear rather Emmanuel thought of what to do to help ease the situation. He began to mow the lawns in his neighborhood for free but asking the general public to donate to support Health Services Executive (HSE), the Irish highest health care body in their fight against this dangerous virus which has claimed over a thousand lives in Ireland and over a million in the world as at time of this report.
