He stated that in 2011, for instance that the largest number of foreign students came from UK at a figure of 8,277, followed by Poles 4,556, Chinese 3.533 and Nigeria 2,860. It was revealed at the conference that 32% school- going children in Dundalk are from migrant background.  He concluded by saying, "you can't ignore minority communities. It is critical to recognize minority communities.”
Amongst other speakers at the conference were, Alfred Abolarin of Transformative Dialogue and Training Consultancy – Northern Ireland and Michael McDonagh from Navan Travellers Workshop and Garda Denis Fitzpatrick. McDonagh expressed that the Travellers due to constant “rehabilitation” and “reassimilation” have been subjected to internalised oppression.
